Diversified North American Resource Company

Fortune Minerals Limited is a Canadian development stage mining and metals processing company and a recognized leader in critical minerals project development. The Company is developing the NICO cobalt-gold-bismuth-copper critical minerals project, comprised of a planned mine and concentrator in Canada’s Northwest Territories and a hydrometallurgical process refinery in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland north of Edmonton. Fortune is transitioning from an exploration company to a vertically integrated, reliable North American producer of three critical minerals with 1.1 million ounces of in-situ gold as a highly liquid and countercyclical co-product to mitigate critical mineral price volatility. Critical minerals products will include cobalt sulphate or hydroxide for the lithium-ion battery industry, bismuth ingots for industrial, technology and military applications, and copper cement.

Advanced Development Stage Project

Fortune Minerals owns 100% interests in two polymetallic deposits located in the Northwest Territories. They are the only known IOCG deposits in Canada and with similarities to other world class IOCG’s such as Australia’s Olympic Dam, the Carajas deposits in Brazil and Candelaria district deposits in Chile.Fortune has identified Mineral Resources totalling more than 60 million tonnes, including 33.1 million tonnes of Mineral Reserves in the NICO deposit.Fortune has expended more than $150 million to advance the NICO in-house mineral discovery to a near-construction-ready development asset with environmental assessment approval and the major mine permits for the facilities in the Northwest Territories and attractive economics in Feasibility and Front-End Engineering and Design studies.

Fortune Minerals has secured more than $21 million of non-dilutive government funding from the U.S. Department of Defense, Natural Resources Canada, Alberta Innovates and Prosper NWT to advance the NICO project to a construction decision. The Company also has a process collaboration with Rio Tinto, whereby Fortune will process intermediates produced from Kennecott Smelter wastes in Utah to produce additional bismuth, and potentially cobalt, at the Company’s Alberta Refinery. Fortune is also investigating processing other feed sources, including concentrates produced at smaller mines that do not have the size or grade to justify their own process plants, as well as scrap, waste residues from chemical plants, and by recycling electronic wastes and spent batteries.

Critical Minerals & Gold
Critical Minerals & Gold

Development of the NICO Project will provide a reliable North American vertically integrated supply of three critical minerals essential for the energy transition, new technologies, and defence industry with over 1 million ounces of in-situ gold as a countercyclical co-product.

The single largest use of cobalt is the battery sector, and it is also key to super alloys used in jet engine turbines.

NICO contains 12% of global bismuth reserves, and consumption of bismuth is growing in specialty alloys, lead replacements, high speed electrical connects for AI data centers, magnets and defence applications.

Copper is the metal most aligned with economic activity with an expanding role in energy transition applications.

Our Commodities

Our Commodities

As the names of transformative periods like the “Bronze Age” and “Iron Age” suggest, mining has been the foundation of society since the earliest times and advances in technology and civilization require the use of new materials only obtained with scale by mining. These raw materials are vital to everyday life around the world. Whether it is the gold bonding wire that ensures the reliability of the ubiquitous microchip, or the few kilograms of cobalt contained in the lithium-ion batteries powering an electric vehicle, commodities support an improved quality of life for the world’s 8 billion inhabitants. Our homes, vehicles, smart phones - even the sunscreen we wear to protect us while playing outdoors - all require mineral products produced from the ground.

Fortune Minerals’ principal asset contains cobalt, gold, bismuth and copper that are all needed in advanced technologies and to manufacture consumer goods for a growing word population.
